What I'm Reading and New Releases!

First of all, I hope your summer was great and that you came through the last year happy and healthy. Me, I'm excited for fall! I mean, really, I know there are three other great seasons, but fall... It beckons me, saying, "Hey, a crazy busy time is coming up, so take a moment to sip a pumpkin-spiced latte and read a book...or ten!"

Now that the weather has cooled off in my neck of the woods, I've been flying through books like crazy. And oddly enough, they're not the type of books I've been reading for the last few years. My guess is that I've been wanting to get back to my roots of writing whodunnits, so I've been binge-reading mystery books. Yeah, there's a little romance in them, too, as I love a little sexual tension.

Other than the books I've been reading, I have great news. . . The final book in The Midnight Sons collection is on the way! I know y'all have been waiting since Sam's Folly for Daire's story, so I'm happy to report it's up for pre-order. Grab Daire's Resolution now!

What I've been reading!

Awesome Stand-Alone Mystery!

I’ve read all the books in this series, and while each one deserved five stars, I now want to give “Silent Strike” TEN STARS! Melinda outdid herself, which is a great accomplishment.

Mainly, I enjoyed a REAL mystery, one that I had to look at all the suspects and figure out whodunit along with the detectives. Too often when I read/watch mysteries, the writer either throws in the killer from left-field or inadvertently tells me immediately. I had to work for this one. I thought I had it a couple of times, but . . .

What an emotional ride!

I'll be the first to admit that I don't read many historical books, but when I do, I want to be swept back in time by an author who did her homework, and this book certainly did that.

Even better, "The Waking Bell" was beautiful, sad, intense, informative, romantic, and mysterious... I'm not sure I have enough superlatives to explain how much this book swept me up in its story. . .

If there's one thing J.K. Rowling (she'll always be J.K. Rowling to me) can do...it's great world-building!

I confess... I've had this on my Kindle for years, but I finally got past the prologue, and then I couldn't put it down. For some reason, I have to ease my way into her writing, but once I start, I'm hooked.

With this series, she created characters you can't help but love...and hope for...and cheer for!

The mystery: I figured it out, then changed my mind, then flipped it again . . .
