Six years ago, my agent suggested that—with my background—I should write a “brotherhood” series set in Alaska. Hmmm… I liked the idea. But where do I start? Easy. With my friends, my family, and the stories that have stuck with me over the years. For example, Vince came to life after one crazy line my best friend overheard. Her father's friend told her dad, “She even took my tighty whities.” That line cracked us up… and I immediately thought, how do I get this Russian-American fisherman from Alaska into a search-and-rescue brotherhood? Sam had to come first. I didn’t know much about him at the time—just that he was the eldest. Then I thought, what if the heroine came from nearly as far away as you can get? From Argentina… to Alaska. Boom! I just had to figure out why she’d end up there. And that why had to be an even more dangerous secret than what Sam was dealing with. Because that’s the kind of romantic suspense I wanted to write—not old-fashioned rescues, but emotionally rich, action-filled stories where the hero and heroine save each other. Where women have real problems, not just plot devices. And where family—no matter how messy—still means everything. As I wrote each book, I kept circling back to one thought: Why didn’t I start with the women? And one woman in particular stood out: Claire The mother of these five superhero-ish, quasi-brother search-and-rescue men. From the very first book, I knew I’d eventually have to go back and tell her story. Since Sam was 38 in 2015, I realized I’d need to head all the way back to 1978 to give Claire and Adam time to fall in love, face the impossible, and raise the next generation. And although we all knew Claire, none of us--even I--really new Adam. So yes, again, while Adam's name is on the book, and we see his story... Well, you'll see. :) What's really interesting is that while I knew I wanted to write about Claire, Y'all asked for her story! I received so many emails and messages from readers who loved Claire and wanted to know more. So I listened. Adam’s Rising is for you. And because I always try to reward my loyal readers and newsletter subscribers, the new release, which releases July 1, is just $0.99 this week only. Yes, I know many authors launch at $14.99 or more. But as long as I’m able, I’ll keep making my new releases affordable for the readers who’ve helped me build this series. If you haven’t started the Midnight Sons yet or need to catch up, now’s your chance--Sam’s Folly is FREE this week, and Daire’s Resolution (the most recent before the prequel) is just $0.99. Find links to all the books below. Thank you—for reading, reviewing, and turning this family of fictional Alaskans into a real, bestselling legacy. I hope you love Adam’s Rising as much as I enjoyed it. And who knows... Well, I'll let you reach the end of Adam and Claire's story before we decide what's next for this family on not-so-shiny knights in rescue and turn-out gear! Until next time, Happy Reading! Carmen The newest release in the series is Adam's Rising, and it's on sale this week only!
Although all the books are stand-alone stories, which means you can read them in any order, there is an ongoing family dynamic, so I numbered them for your convenience! Follow my newsletter or author pages to stay up-to-date on New Releases, Specials, and Writing Posts.
